Hair has two structures: the follicle and the hair shaft. The follicle is the essential unit for the generation of hair, the hair shaft is made up of two or three layers (cuticle, cortex and sometimes medulla). Hair follicles derive their nourishment from the blood which delivers oxygen and hair-building nutrients. Getting key nutrients ensures that your hair gets what it needs to promote growth and prevent breakage. Thichology Matrix XY provides vital nutrients such as biotin, beta-carotenoids, vitamin C, D, B-complex, zinc, selenium and iron to promote healthy hair growth.
Hair growth rate and hair density decrease with age. Hair loss problems often are caused by an imbalance of the hair growth cycle that leads to a reduced number of growing hair follicles combined with an increased number of degenerating hair follicles. Causes of this include hormone levels, malnutrition, medicines, certain conditions, stress and environmental factors. Oxidative stress has been linked to hair loss, antioxidants are compounds that are able to neutralize reactive oxygen species, preventing oxidative damage. Saw palmetto contains the antioxidants epicatechin and methyl gallate, compounds that prevent damage to cells and decrease inflammation. Saw palmetto also helps block the activity of 5-alpha reductase, an enzyme that converts testosterone into a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). High levels of androgens, including DHT, can shrink hair follicles, causing hair to grow out looking thinner and more brittle.
During hair growth the follicles follow a cyclical and asynchronous growth phase. This cycle is made up of three distinct phases: anagen (growth), catagen (regression) and telogen (rest). During each anagen phase, follicles produce an entire hair shaft from tip to root; during catagen and telogen, follicles reset and prepare their stem cells so that they can receive the signal to start the next growth phase and make the new hair shaft. AnaGain™ Nu stimulates specific signaling molecules (FGF7 and Noggin) in the dermal papilla cells which are required to initiate the growth of new hair. Pea shoots are a rich source of various nutrients such as biotin and L-arginine, as well as other compounds such as isoflavones, which promote hair growth. What contributes to a man’s hair growth?
Factors such as poor nutrition and hormone imbalances are often a large factor in cases of thinning hair in men. DHT, an androgen hormone that signals miniaturization of hair follicles and causes thinning. As the follicles shrink, hair no longer grows.
In addition to thinning, DHT can also cause hair to become finer and lighter in color, or to get darker and coarser, or even to drop out altogether.
Will Trichology Matrix XY work for my hair type?

Trichology Matrix has been formulated specifically for women and Trichology Matrix XY for men. Hair loss for men and women may have some overlapping causes, but in order to fully target all of the root origins, a formula must be personalized for each gender’s biochemical needs.
