THE MAJOR CAUSES OF AGING

Advanced Glycation End products (AGEs) are formed by non-enzymatic reactions between carbonyl groups of sugars and free amino group of proteins, lipids or nucleic acids. Age, epigenetic factors, oxidative stress, UV, smoke, diabetes and diet are important causes of AGEs accumulation in the body. AGEs accumulation can lead to complications such as premature skin aging.

The proteins with a slow turn-over such as collagen and elastin are the most affected by the glycation process. Carcinine, a natural dipeptide especially found in brain, muscles and skin, is proven to be effective to fight against AGEs accumulation and associated oxidative damages.

CLINICAL STUDIES

An exploratory clinical study has been conducted with 38 overweight patients in order to evaluate the benefits of GLYCOLESS® supplementation against the effects of glycation. The study was conducted with 200mg/day vs placebo for 90 days.

The parameters measured were general metabolism and skin aspect.
