Designed to keep the body in balance, its pure nutrient levels provide maximum benefits for skin, cardiovascular, and mental health.
BENEFITS
A superior source of Omega-3 that offers the maximum benefit for skin, cardiovascular and mental health. The unique combination of nutrients keeps the body in balance, helping to reduce stress and inflammation, while acting as a powerful antioxidant.
Skin
In controlled trials, Superba Boost showed statistically significant changes in skin hydration and elasticity. The triple effects of phospholipids, Omega-3, and astaxanthin are ideal for optimal skin nutrition.
Heart
Krill oil has shown to have beneficial effects related to heart health, such as lowering fasting triglyceride levels which are a risk factor for heart disease.
Mind
Phospholipids assist in the transportation of omega-3 DHA across the blood brain barrier.
Superba Boost is extracted exclusively from Euphausia Superba, a species of Antarctic krill. Antarctic krill is a crustacean that feeds on microscopic algae that provide them with a diet rich in omega-3s. Superba Boost is traceable and certified sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). Unlike other omega-3s, Superba Boost uses a unique patented technology that removes unwanted salts and other polar components, while concentrating the beneficial components. As a result, Superba Boost has higher amounts of long-chain omega-3 eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), phospholipids, and choline.
The difference between krill oil and fish oil lies in their molecular form to which omega-3 fatty acids are linked (phospholipids in krill oil and triglycerides in fish oil). Phospholipids help omega-3s bind into blood cell membranes, leading to a higher level of omega-3s compared to sources of omega-3 triglycerides. Phospholipids are natural integral parts of cells, they are structural components of cell surface membranes and of the membranes within cells, because they help maintain their strength, flexibility and integrity.
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is a key component of all cell membranes, is essential for the formation and function of the nervous system, and is found in abundance in the brain and retina. One of its derivatives, neuroprotectin D-1, has been studied for its possible neuroprotective effects and to preserve neuronal structure and function. Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) has a wide range of potentially beneficial cardiovascular effects. Its metabolism can give rise to anti-inflammatory and antithrombotic lipid mediators.
The astaxanthin present in krill is a powerful antioxidant that provides protection against the attack of free radicals and keeps the phospholipids from turning rancid before consumption. Some of the benefits are its anti-inflammatory, analgesic effects, protection against UV rays on the skin and diseases related to aging. Choline is vital in numerous biological functions such as: membrane structure, nerve impulses, methylation reactions, lipid transport.
The purest ingredients are the source of OXOMIO products. The creation of Antarctic Essential begins in the purest waters of Antarctica where krill is carefully harvested.
In each portion of Antarctic Essential:
Antarctic Krill Oil SuperbaBoost ™ (1 g)
Concentrated and purified Antarctic krill oil harvested from the crystal clear waters of Sector 48 in Antarctica.
Phospholipids (590 mg)
Essential natural components of all cell membranes, resulting in better Omega 3 and phospholipid bioavailability. Delivers nutrients to the cell and aids in skin cell barrier and repair.
Omega 3 (310 mg)
Essential nutrients for the body, which are not synthesized by the body and must be consumed. Widely studied for a variety of health benefits, including increased skin hydration and flexibility.
Choline (35 mg)
Essential nutrient vital for multiple bodily functions including nerve signaling, liver and muscle function.
Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA, 170 mg)
Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory Omega 3 fatty acid, protective against neuronal degeneration.
Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA, 90mg)
Omega 3 fatty acid, necessary for the maintenance of normal brain function, acts as a neuroprotector and prevents cognitive decline.
Astaxanthin (146 mcg)
Carotenoid is a powerful antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties that helps prevent conditions related to aging. Powerful skin antioxidant. It gives our krill oil its bright red color and protects it from oxidation, eliminating the need to add preservatives.
The Aker BioMarine krill fishery is now rated as the world's most sustainable reduction fishery, being the only fishery to receive an 'A' rating from the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership.
The Aker Biomarine krill fishery operates in Area 48, just below the tip of South America. This fishery is regarded by independent NGOs as one of the most sustainable in the world, with responsible and environmental operations at the core.
FIRST MSC-CERTIFIED KRILL SUPPLIER
Aker BioMarine was the first krill fishery to receive the MSC (Marine Stewardship Council), the highest renowned sustainability certification available. It scored highest in a comparison of wild-capture fisheries certification schemes initiated by WWF.
Ingredients that carry the blue MSC label have demonstrated that they come from a fishery that meets the most stringent sustainability standards and that all products are traceable throughout the supply chain.
ECO-HARVESTING
Aker BioMarine is known for proprietary Eco-Harvesting technologies, which reduces by-catch to near-zero.
The Eco-Harvesting technology employs a continuous mid-water trawl system that is guarded by a fine mesh net, which prevents anything larger than krill from entering. Underwater cameras monitor the system. Rather than leaving a trawl to get the catch on board, a conveyor hose is attached to the end of the net, which remains underwater throughout the entire operation. A continuous stream of water flows through the hose, bringing the live krill directly into the ship, while minimizing by-catch.
BIOMASS IN GOOD CONDITION
All catches of krill are reported to CCAMLR (Commission of the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources) which manages and regulates all Antarctic marine ecosystems. Currently, commercial krill fishing in the Southern Ocean takes place mainly in Area 48. The management of the fishery is very stable, as the consensus of 25 nations is required to change Antarctic fishery regulations.
Compared to other fisheries where precautionary catch limits are set to 10% of the biomass the total allowable catch of Antarctic krill is set to 1% of the biomass. Together, the whole industry only fish 0.3% of the biomass in subarea 48, located around the Antarctic Peninsula, the Orkney Islands and South Georgia.
AKER BIOMARINE IS THE ONLY REDUCTION FISHERY TO RECEIVE AN «A» RATING
The Antarctic krill fishery has for the fourth year in a row received an “A” ranking from the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership for having a biomass that is deemed to be in very good condition.
In addition to internal efforts to ensure a sustainable fishery, the Antarctic Krill fishery is one of the world’s strongest regulated fisheries.
Can children take Antarctic Essential?
We recommend that children older than 7 years take only 1 capsule a day (500 mg), from the age of 16 they can take the normal dose of 2 capsules a day (1 g). Always consult with your healthcare practitioner.
What is the difference between krill and fish oil?
Our oil is extracted from Krill found in pristine Antarctic waters, far from industrial areas. It does not accumulate dangerous levels of contaminants since Krill is at the beginning of the food chain. The omega-3 in Krill is bound to phospholipids, making it easier to absorb through the intestines. Naturally occurring astaxanthin prevents the oil from becoming rancid and eliminates the need to add preservatives.
Fish oil has low levels of antioxidants, is prone to oxidation, and is extracted from species that usually are contaminated with dangerous substances. The absorption of krill oil in our system is vastly superior.
Are you MSC certified?
Yes, our producer Aker Biomarine is the only krill producer with a sustainable certificate from the Marine Stewardship Council.
Can I consume more than the recommended dose?
Yes, increased benefits can be obtained from taking 4 capsules per day. We recommend you consult your healthcare professional.
